Model spotlight: Victoria Monette

Victoria Monette is on a roll! After signing with RED agency in New York, she jetted to Europe and signed with LENI'S in London and MAJOR in Paris. We caught up with her quickly between castings abroad!

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED WITH MODELING? I am from Houston, TX and grew up with a very busy life that consisted of competitive gymnastics, competitive cheerleading, & also an intense Russian ballet program. I’m pretty sure the only day I had off was on Sunday! Haha :) Once I turned 14, my parents took me into the Page Parkes Houston office for a meeting & from there I attended model camp, & was immediately accepted into the agency. I was 16 when I actually met with the Dallas office for the first time. I flew there to meet with an agency from Paris. I remember that day very well! I met with Christopher Rich (former women's Dallas director) and just really loved how welcoming, down to earth & genuine he was. I actually took my very first polaroids with him. And the rest is history!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW? Right now I am currently in London meeting with clients, shooting with photographers, & getting ready for London Fashion Week. New York is one of my favorite places and every time modeling brings me there, I never want to leave! When I am not working, I love going to see a Broadway show, shopping & of course stopping by my favorite cupcake place ever, Baked By Melissa. I look forward to moving there this Fall!

HOW IS EUROPE? I am in Europe building my book & meeting with all types of amazing clients. I will also be doing Fashion Week in both London & Paris. I am beyond excited!

BEST PART ABOUT MODELING? For me, the best part of this business is getting to work directly with some of the world’s most amazing designers, photographers, stylists, and make-up artists! And of course the travelinG...did I mention the traveling? :)

WORST THING ABOUT MODELING? Personally, the worst thing about modeling would have to be giving back all the amazing clothes, shoes & accessories you get to strut down the runway or wear at an awesome photo shoot!

FAVORITE MODELING JOB SO FAR? If I had to choose one it would have to be for Nha Khanh! I’ve been working with her and her amazing team for the last 2 seasons. To be able to see her vision come to life and also to be able to model her FABULOUS designs from her Ready To Wear & Custom Atelier Collection to look-books & editorial campaigns. It is also SO cool seeing celebrities like Brooklyn Decker, Kim Kardashian, Giuliana Rancic, etc & thinking to yourself “Wow! I was the model for that designers collection!” Khanh even told me that when she was in NYC this past NYFW for her showroom that Rachel Zoe had seen me in her look-book & was planning to pull pieces of Nha Khanh for a project. I just thought that was so awesome! Just being a part of something so great & seeing it season after season grow and go to NY, Paris, & being published in ELLE Vietnam, Glamour Magazine, Lucky Magazine, etc is just so amazing. Khanh & her team have become like my second family! I really feel so blessed to be a small part of her great success!

HOW HAS PAGE PARKES HELPED YOU PREPARE FOR MODELING SUCCESS? I have learned from Page that modeling is so much more than just putting on designer clothes & getting your hair & make-up done. They have always focused on the natural beauty of their models. No tanning, make-up…all natural! A model must possess confidence yet always remain true to who she/he is. When meeting clients, it’s about understanding what they are looking for and making their vision come to life down the runway or in a photograph. They are very honest, have always encouraged me, & have been supportive of my goals as well as my dreams! They encouraged me to attend Agent Review 2012 and I signed with 3 additional agencies in less than 30 days…Major Paris, Lenis Model Management in London, & RED Model Management in NYC. I am so thankful for all the opportunities that I have been given!

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU? More traveling & modeling. After London Fashion Week I will be heading straight to Paris to start castings for Paris Fashion Week, & then I will be heading to NYC! I also plan to head to San Francisco in between to see my agency Stars Model Management. I feel so blessed and truly feel like I have the best of both worlds!
