Fashion Houston 2010 show: Spotlight on Kaylyn Hemphill

Six Degrees of Project Runway
Over the four days of Fashion Houston, three Project Runway winners have shown their spring collections and one Project Runway model winner has walked in them all. Chloe Dao won Season Two, Christian Siriano won Season Four and Irina Shabayeva and model Kalyn Hemphill won Season Six.
Hemphill, who hails from Lake Jackson and could quite possibly be one the nicest and tallest women on the planet, definitely had the elusive "it" factor on the runway. Besides working together on Project Runway, Shabayeva and Hemphill are neighbors in New York and see each other frequently. The Texas native hoped to squeeze in a little local flavor while the women are in Houston.
“I should take her for a Mexican breakfast,” Hemphill said. “That would be good.”
Huge congrats to Kaylyn who was the winning model on Season 6 of Project Runway and took the top prize as well on the sister companion reality show, Models of the Runway. She's already shot for Marie Claire...glad to see she still takes the time out to walk in Houston as well.

Page Parkes models strut for Christian Siriano
All we can say is...THAT'S FIERCE!
Project Runway alum Christian Siriano made a stop in Houston last week for Fashion Houston 2010 presented by Audi. He just showed his spring 2011 collection at Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week last month to rave reviews.
The fashion-tastic event with Siriano was the hugest draw. Houston Chronicle's fashion writer Joy Sewing had this to say, "For many, the highlight of the evening was Christian Siriano, the spunky Project Runway winner who's in town for a trunk show Tuesday at Neiman Marcus. The designer just arrived from Dubai to feature a sampling of his spring collection. After the show, I talked with Christian about his theme for spring, his shoe line at Payless, and what he's wearing for Halloween. Can you guess? A Disney character."
Some of our top Page girls got Siriano-approved and stormed the runway at the event, including (from left) Nicole Kaspar, Lindsey Schultz, Lindsay Phenix, and Caitlin Ricketts.

A moment with Jourdana Phillips
Jourdana has had a busy season. She took New York by storm this season appearing in a slew of spring shows, including the closing show of the season - L.A.M.B. You can say she is Gwen Stefani-approved!
The Houston native is now an East Village dweller hunkering down on St. Marks and settling for the time being in the Big Apple.
We caught up with her briefly...
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT DURING FASHION WEEK?
My favorite moment of fashion week was waking up to someone telling me I was on the cover of the the New York Post...that was exciting!
SO TELL US ABOUT THE L.A.M.B. SHOW?
L.A.M.B. was amazing and they had the coolest runway I've ever walked on. Reggae music was playing and it was so cool! Yes I got to meet Gwen Stefani...she was very hands on, so we spent a lot of time with her.
ANY UPCOMING JOBS? WHAT'S NEXT?
Not sure what is next, and I never really know until a week before a job shoots, so we shall see.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT NEW YORK?
I love being in NYC so much...there's always so much to do and so many people to meet every day. I love that! My favorite thing to do is to visit Central Park, especially during heavy casting days. I like to sneak there sometimes for a little bit just to relax.

Alexis Bledel gets kudos from Page Parkes
We can TRULY say we knew her when...
One of the most famous alums to graduate from the Page Parkes Center of Modeling and Acting is Alexis Bledel.
Page Parkes who helped guide her career in the beginning was recently interviewed by CultureMap.com and had this to say about her:

Channing Tatum: The Dilemma
He used to be on the Page Parkes roster...now he's shooting his way to the A-list.
Next up for Channing Tatum is comedy "The Dilemma". Channing gets prime screen time alongside heavy hitters Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly and kissing time with Winona Ryder?!
