HOW DID YOU GET INTO MODELING? I have always loved performing and started doing musical theatre when I was eight years old with my first production, “The Sound of Music”, in Lake Jackson, Texas. I was in tons of shows around the Houston area with Masquerade Theatre and TUTS, as well as taking every class I could in acting, singing and dancing. When I was 14, 5 foot 9 and rail thin, I decided to give modeling a try after many people urged me to, because I figured it went hand in hand with performing. I went through the Page Parkes School and soon after, joined the agency. I modeled and acted all through high school and graduated a year early from Brazoswood High School. After an amazing theatre internship in Colorado, I moved to New York after signing with an agency and have been here ever since, modeling, performing in theatre, acting in commercials and TV work.
FAVORITE MEMORIES WHEN YOU WERE MODELING FOR PAGE IN HOUSTON?Page, Erik, Tabitha, Michelle and the whole team of people involved with the school and agency, have always been so incredibly supportive and amazing. I feel so blessed to be with such a wonderful agency that cares deeply about not just my career, but about me as a person. Some of my favorite memories were attending Agent Review, my first magazine cover with 002 Houston, and working on all the fun runway shows around the Houston area.
HOW DID YOU GET ON PROJECT RUNWAY?I went on a casting for the show last July and there were hundreds of girls there from every agency in New York. I thought there was no way I would ever make it on the show, but after walking for them and showing my book, I got a call back. I did an hour-long interview on camera the next day, then after a long process that included psychological testing, tons of paperwork and lots of phone calls, I received news that I was one of the 16 girls selected for the show.
WHAT CAN YOU DIVULGE ABOUT BEING ON A TOP REALITY SHOW?It was such an amazing experience to see behind the scenes on Project Runway and get to know such wonderful, talented people, both designers and models. It was stressful sometimes being filmed 24/7, but I had so much fun.
WHAT'S NEXT ON YOUR PLATE?My goal has always been to be a successful performer who is able to influence people for good. I hope that I have many other opportunities after the show both in modeling and in areas where I can capitalize on my other talents. I am a very proactive person when it comes to my career, so I am already looking into new representation in NY and LA, building a website, and being sure I am at the top of my game with all of my training and materials. It has been an amazing journey so far and I am only 20 years old, so there is so much more to come...I can’t wait!
